I bet you know someone who believes his or her hopes of something bigger and better are out of reach. The world is waiting to squash their dreams and they will gladly recite evidence of their failures with very little prompting.

I grew up in this environment. I believe my parents meant well. They were trying to protect me from getting my hopes up and being disappointed.

My grandparents were sharecroppers and my parents were hard workers who never seemed to get ahead financially. I found myself on my own at sixteen, making my own living and seemingly headed down the same road. My story turned out differently.

What made the difference? I changed the way I think. How did I do that?

I purposely read and listened to positive material everyday. I started hanging around with people who were in life where I wanted to be. Gaining knowledge that would help me move forward and strengthen my belief that I could create a better life for my family.

Recently, Dan Miller devoted an entire episode of his 48 Days Online Radio Show to reviewing The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz.

I first read this book when I was a teenager and he took me back down memory lane as he recounted some of the simple action steps to overcome fear and amplify your success. Such as, smile big, walk 25% faster and practice eye contact.

Listen to the entire episode here. I know you will enjoy it.

How we think shows through in how we act. Attitudes are mirrors of the mind. They reflect thinking.

~ David J. Schwartz

We can be stuck in the pain of thinking small or think big and enjoy unlimited possibilities.
